Press Release: Altrincham Business Woman Reaches Finals of Top Business Award

Altrincham’s Becs Jeffery, who runs Fi & Becs Design & Marketing Partnership has reached the finals of the Enterprise Vision Awards, the North West’s premier women’s business awards.

Becs was nominated in the highly competitive ‘New Business of the Year’ category, and was chosen as a finalist from hundreds of entries across the region. She will now be interviewed by a panel of judges before the winner is announced at a red carpet dinner in Blackpool in September.

Fi & Becs is a partnership of two creative sisters based in Altrincham and Halifax, West Yorkshire. Having only started 18 months ago, they have already built up an impressive portfolio of over 80 clients including many businesses in the Altrincham, South Manchester and Cheshire area. Ranging from bookshops to dentists, farm shops to housing associations; in the last 6 months they also beat competition from larger marketing agencies to win two big contracts copywriting for Matalan and designing products for Mothercare suppliers.

Proudly helping small and start-up businesses get excellent, bespoke marketing services at a fair price, Becs also believes in supporting local initiatives and designed the website for the recent Altrincham French Festival and provided the brand and social media campaign for the Altrincham Healthy Living Festival at no cost back in February this year.

Married with one child, Becs says that part of Fi & Becs’ success is down to using their experience as busy working Mums to their advantage.

“We never expected Fi & Becs to grow so quickly and be quite so successful” says Becs “But we’ve found so many small and medium sized businesses all over the UK who can’t afford large design agencies and simply want friendly, approachable marketing services at a reasonable price.”

“Our slightly alterative working hours (usually 9am-3pm, then 7pm-9pm) fit in really well with small companies who need to run their business during the daytime, and they allow us to manage our workload alongside being Mums and picking up the kids everyday at 3pm.”

“We’ve actually found that being parents has helped us win contracts with companies like Matalan and Mothercare who are looking to engage with busy Mums (and Dads!) running households all over the UK. Many of our clients are in baby products industry or are local businesses looking to tap into the growing ‘Yummy Mummy’ market.”

“We were so delighted to be nominated for an Enterprise Vision Award, and when we found out that we were finalists for New Business of the Year we were over the moon!” Becs added, “It’s so rewarding working with a local small company or helping someone start their own business, but it’s even more rewarding to have our success acknowledged by other women in business in the North West!”

The Enterprise Visions Awards judging process is a mix of public nomination with a stringent round of judging and an interview with a panel of highly regarded business professionals.

Public votes can be cast at www.enterprisevisionawards.co.uk. The public votes form a minority share and are graded before being combined with the judges’ scores to choose the overall winner.

We are literally bouncing around the room in excitment today as we're allowed to offically announce that we are FINALISTS in the Enterprise Vision Awards for New Business of the Year!

After finding out last week it's been somewhat difficult to stop Becs from declaring it on all forms of social media - but now we can tell everyone and start getting ready for the next stage!

What happens next:

As an offical finalist (woop, still chuffed!) for New Business of the Year (which is sponsored by Chorley Council), the next round is an interview at the Imperial Hotel in Blackpool in the next few weeks.

We're sending Becs along where she'll be interviewed by three judges and provide a short presentation all about Fi & Becs... if any of you know Becs you'll appreciate that she is very excited about this as she strangely really likes presenting and will talk cheerily to anyone about our business for hours if left unattended.

All of the finalists will be scored by the judging panel - BUT there is also an element of public voting to the Enterprise Vision Awards... so we might need your help by voting for us in the next couple of months!

The winners will be announced at the fabulous Awards Night held in the Empress Ballroom at the prestigious Winter Gardens in Blackpool in September - nice dresses on, fingers crossed, glass(es) of wine at the ready...

About the Enterprise Visions Awards:
